Hello 2017!
I’m so excited for the new year, and because I’m just SO sure that 2017 is going to be the best. year. ever, I’m sharing my list of resolutions with you! I’m sure if you take one quick look at the list, it will appear very same ole, same ole, but this list is so personal to me – I feel like I’m showing you my heart, so please be considerate and understanding! It’s not long, but these goals are super important to me.
Ok, deep breathe….
Here we go!
Resolution #1 – Get rid of this stupid weight. In June of 2016, after the heart-wrenching loss of my sweet baby boy Gabriel, I hit my all-time high. I havne’t been ready to share that painful experience, but I will when I feel like the time is right. Between August and December, I took off about 25 pounds – woohoo! Such a great end to a not-so-fabulous year, but here we are now in 2017, and I’m ready to rock and roll! I don’t have a set number of pounds in mind for my goal, but I just want to feel good. My program of choice is the cheapest one around – the Weigh Down Workshop. All I did was buy this book, read it, and then followed Gwen’s (the author) directions. Easy! The jist? No special foods – just wait until you’re hungry, eat small amounts, and stop when you’re full.
Resolution #2 – Spend more time reading God’s Word and having quiet times. For people with kids, you know it can be hard to squeeze in time to yourself, but since my boys starting going to school (after being homeschooled) in October of 2016, it’s been much easier to carve out devotional time. However, I really didn’t prioritize and therefore my relationship with my Savior suffered. So this is a HUGE goal of mine! It really should be #1 on my list – let’s just pretend I put it at the top and forget the fact that I didn’t plan this list out a little bit better. *wink* I’m super stoked about this goal, too, because I got THIS awesome Bible for Christmas plus an awesome set of Koi watercolors and I’ve already started illustrating. It’s gonna be amazing! If you’re interested in illustrating your faith, make sure to follow my Bible Journalling board on Pinterest.
Resolution #3 – Kick this blog into super HIGH GEAR! I’m so freaking excited to be in the blogging world, but there is a bit (or a huge bit) of a learning curve. There really is a ton of crap to know about being a blogger, and there’s certainly millions of ways to do it. I’m researching and studying all. the. time! I love it, and I learn something every day – no joke. My goals include increasing page views, getting more followers, learning more about monetizing (I’m just in the infancy stage right now), and figuring out what content my peeps (that’s y’all) really want to hear. I also plan to post monthly income reports where I’ll keep it REAL, so please come back and see how I’m doing and offer loads of encouragement. I’m gonna need it!
Resolution #4 – Get more sleep and drink more water. So this really should be more like Resolution #1.5 because it goes along the lines of being healthy, but I really wanted to focus on it, so that’s why it’s in its own spot. So I’m a night owl, and I have a horrible habit of getting all my crap done in the middle of the night (like, seriously, it was 12:28 am when I started writing this post, and I was alive with ideas and excitement)! Anyway, my goals include going to bed earlier so I can get at least 8 hours of sleep, and to just drink as much water as I can. The water goal is actually going to be hard for me because, for those people who know me even a tiny bit, know that I’m a Diet Coke ADDICT! It’s insane, but darn that stuff is gooood! Ugh…
Resolution #5 – Work on making my house a home. Ever since birth, I’ve been a “messy.” You know, those people that don’t seem to know how to put things away and who seem to have messes follow them everywhere. I don’t know how it happens, but it does and I’m SO over it! For a family of five, we live a tiny house. Not those awesome tiny houses you see on HGTV that are deliberately tiny (oh, and adorable). No no. I’m talking about a 100+ year old home, with a business taking up the entire downstairs, and a teeny tiny two bedroom apartment upstairs. An apartment with NO dining room, strange Z-shaped kitchen, and terrible storage space. Honestly, I could go on and on about all the cons, but there are a number of amazing pros for living here. One being, it’s a small space to maintain, and that’s important to me. The less I have to clean, the happier this momma is. But for 2017, I want to UP my game and kick my housekeeping abilities in the rear. I hope to post pics and get your help making my tiny space the perfect place for my little family. One book that I’d HIGHLY recommend to anyone who feels like a housekeeping failure is The House that Cleans Itself. The tips that Mindy outlines will, without a doubt, help you get your house organized and tidy!
So that’s it. Just five little resolutions to start this great year off on the right foot. With a lot of prayer and hard work, I think 2017 isn’t just going to be good, it’s gonna ROCK!!! What are your new year’s resolutions?
